The Durban Wireless Community (DWC) was founded in December 2004 and is a community of people in Durban, South Africa that are interested in wireless technology, more specifically 802.11 a/b/g
We are trying to educate the public at large about wireless technology, as well as learning more ourselves.
We hope to become something of a "Durban branch" of JAWUG (If you would like more info please visit the link).
We are a non-profit group and funding all comes out of the members pockets. It's free to join and the community is open to everyone.
We first met on the 31st of January 2005 with 4 people. This has expanded quickly to a database of 25 people when the website was first launched. we currently have about 200 people on the mailing list and about 15 live nodes on the network spanning from Bluff to Umbilo, Morningside, Town, Tollgate and Westivlle we want to get things going in the Pinetown and highway area....So spread the word...
All information that is provided to DWC is kept confidential and not shared with ANYONE. It is merely for our own use, to monitor the number of people using wireless in specific areas.
