Welcome to the Durban Wireless Community Wiki!
The Durban Wireless Community is holding a meeting - details on the Meetings page - we really hope to see you there!
The DWC wiki is a central repository for howtos and various bits of interesting information regarding wireless and the Durban network. It is not the main DWC website.
You cannot edit the wiki without a user account. You can create an account for yourself using the link in the top right corner.
About the Durban Wireless Community
The Durban Wireless Community (DWC) was founded in December 2004 and is a community of people in Durban, South Africa that are interested in wireless technology, more specifically 802.11 a/b/g
We are trying to educate the public at large about wireless technology, as well as learning more ourselves.
We are a non-profit group and funding all comes out of the members pockets. It's free to join and the community is open to everyone.
We first met on the 31st of January 2005 with 4 people. This has expanded quickly to a database of 25 people when the website was first launched. we currently have about 200 people on the mailing list and about 30 - 40 live nodes on the network spanning from Bluff to Umbilo, Morningside, Town, Tollgate, Glenwood, Glenmore and Westville. We are always looking to expand coverage, and gain new members who are passionate about wireless and want to experiment with technology....So spread the word...
All information that is provided to DWC is kept confidential and not shared with ANYONE. It is merely for our own use, to monitor the number of people using wireless in specific areas.
DWC does not sell Internet access! If you are looking for Internet access, DWC cannot assist you.
The Durban Wireless Community is now on Twitter - check out http://www.twitter.com/durbanwireless
